Minecraft Crossplay Server: Java + Bedrock in One Click

A Minecraft crossplay server is a Java server that Bedrock players can join through Geyser and Floodgate. On AtrbCode, you create a Java server, open the Bedrock Crossplay card, and click install. The panel adds Geyser and Floodgate and opens the Bedrock port, so phone, Windows, and console players join the same world as Java players.

What is a Minecraft crossplay server?

Minecraft has two main editions. Java Edition runs on PC and Mac. Bedrock Edition runs on phones, Windows, and consoles. Normally they cannot join the same server. A crossplay server bridges that gap: it runs as a Java server, and Geyser translates Bedrock connections so both groups play in the same world. Floodgate handles Bedrock player authentication so Bedrock players do not need a Java account.

Edition Devices How players join a crossplay server
Java PC, Mac Use the Java address in the multiplayer list
Bedrock Phone, Windows, consoles Use the Bedrock address shown after crossplay is enabled

Why crossplay matters: phone, console, and PC together

Many groups are split across devices. One friend plays Java on a laptop, another plays Bedrock on a phone, and a third plays on a console. Without crossplay, you need two servers and two separate worlds. With crossplay, everyone joins the same server. You manage one Java server, one world, and one set of plugins. That is simpler and keeps the community together.

AtrbCode makes crossplay a panel action, not a manual setup. You do not edit Geyser or Floodgate config files by hand. You do not open ports on a router. The panel does both when you click install.

How to make a Minecraft crossplay server

What Geyser and Floodgate do

Geyser is a translation layer between Java and Bedrock. It lets a Bedrock client connect to a Java server. Floodgate adds Bedrock account authentication on a Java server. Together they allow Bedrock players to join a Java world without a separate Bedrock server.

Steps on AtrbCode

  1. Create a Java Minecraft server on AtrbCode. Pick a Java plan from Minecraft hosting. Java plans start at $0.90 per month for the Uruk plan, before the $1.00 service fee per purchase.
  2. Wait for the server to be ready, then open the panel.
  3. Find the Bedrock Crossplay card. It is in the Minecraft panel.
  4. Click Install. The panel adds Geyser and Floodgate and opens the Bedrock port. You can follow the crossplay guide if you want step-by-step screenshots.
  5. Share the Bedrock address from the card with Bedrock players. Java players keep using the Java address.

If you want a Survival SMP world that is ready for both editions, choose the Crossplay SMP template when you buy the server. You can still open the Bedrock Crossplay card to manage Bedrock access later.

Using AtrbCode's Bedrock Crossplay card

The Bedrock Crossplay card is the control for Geyser and Floodgate on a Java server. When you install it, the panel opens the Bedrock port and shows the address Bedrock players need. You do not need a separate Bedrock plan. The server stays a Java server; Bedrock players are translated on connection.

This is different from buying a Bedrock plan. A Bedrock plan already runs Bedrock. The Bedrock Crossplay card is for Java servers that also want Bedrock players. If you already have a Bedrock plan, you do not need Geyser.

Choosing a Java plan for crossplay

The RAM you need depends on players, plugins, and mods. A small crossplay SMP with a few friends usually runs on 1024 MB (Uruk) or 2048 MB (Akkad). If you plan to add plugins or a modpack, look at 3072 MB (Babylon) or higher. Use the Minecraft plan finder to check what fits your expected player count and game mode.

All Minecraft plans have unlimited player slots, so the plan's RAM is the practical limit. Every Minecraft purchase or renewal adds a $1.00 service fee per server, and an account's first Minecraft plan adds a one-time $2.00 account fee.

Crossplay-friendly game modes and templates

The template list includes many game modes. For crossplay, the natural starting point is the Crossplay SMP template. It gives you a Survival SMP world. On a Java server that includes the Bedrock Crossplay card, you can enable crossplay for any Java template, such as Survival SMP, Skyblock, Lifesteal, OneBlock, or Towny & Nations. The crossplay setup is independent of the game mode: install Geyser and Floodgate once, and the Java server accepts Bedrock players.

If you are new to running a server, read the full server setup guide for Java and Bedrock basics.

Common crossplay issues and fixes

When something goes wrong, check the connection address first.

If the server is slow or crashing after enabling crossplay, open the slow server guide to find the cause before changing anything.

FAQ

Can Java and Bedrock players play together on the same server?

Yes. A Java server with Geyser and Floodgate accepts Bedrock players. On AtrbCode, you install both from the Bedrock Crossplay card.

Do I need a separate Bedrock server for crossplay?

No. You run one Java server. Bedrock players connect through the Bedrock address shown after crossplay is enabled.

Can console players join a crossplay server?

Yes. Bedrock players on phone, Windows, and consoles can join a Java server that has crossplay enabled.

Does crossplay affect Java players?

No. Java players join normally with the Java address. Geyser and Floodgate only translate Bedrock connections.

Is crossplay included on every Minecraft plan?

Crossplay is a panel feature for Java servers. Which tools a plan includes can differ by plan, so check your plan's included tools before buying.

Ready to run one server for everyone? Open Minecraft hosting to pick a Java plan, then follow the crossplay guide to install Geyser and Floodgate. If you want a ready-made Survival SMP crossplay world, start from the Crossplay SMP template.
