Run your own server JAR

Use any server software: a Paper or Spigot fork, a Forge or Fabric server jar, or your own build.

  1. Open your Java server's panel and find the Custom server JAR card, under Minecraft version.
  2. Press Upload a server jar and choose your .jar. Up to 100 MB is free; bigger jars use a large upload pass. We check every jar before it can run.
  3. Next to your jar, pick the Java version it needs (Java 8, 11, 17, 21 or 25; most new server software needs Java 21) and press Run.
  4. We back up your world, then start your server on the jar. Watch the Console to see it start.
  5. To return to normal software, press Back to Paper (or the software you had before) in the same card. Your world stays, and your jar stays in your files.
Upload the server jar itself. Plugins go in the Plugins card and mods in the Mods card.
If the server stops at once, the Console usually shows why: most often the jar needs a different Java version.

Still stuck? Log in and ask support, or check the service status. New here? See server plans from $0.69 a month.
